Acting for sustainability through knowledge and collaboration

The core task of Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development (GMV) is to create and facilitate cooperation, between and within Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg, with an aim to generate and practically implement knowledge about sustainable development. In order to develop solutions to global challenges, we bring academic disciplines together to create new knowledge. Moreover, practical implementation of knowledge requires collaboration between academia and other actors in society. To this end, we create meeting places and bring together different types of expertise in order to promote sustainable development within research, education and cooperation.

  • Act Sustainable Research Conference Nov 18-19 - Call for abstract, open until August 31

    [12 Aug 2020] What can the research community in Gothenburg bring to the table in order to advance the role of science for achieving sustainable development, in the UN decade of action? Don´t miss the opportunity to contribute to this brand new research conference held at Chalmers Conference Centre on November 18-19.

  • Potato peel nets can provide more eelgrass

    [12 Aug 2020] By fundamentally strengthening the seabed with a net made on potato peelings, the conditions for eelgrass to take root can increase significantly. It shows experiments made by an international group of researchers, including from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The method can be used to restore coastal vegetation and protect the coast from erosion since eelgrass can reduce the wave action reaching the beach.

  • 18.4 million in funding for research on climate and the economy

    [12 Aug 2020] Two research projects in economics at the School of Business, Economics and Law have been awarded funding from the research council Formas, to investigate connections between climate and the economy.
