Acting for sustainability through knowledge and collaboration

The core task of Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development (GMV) is to create and facilitate cooperation, between and within Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg, with an aim to generate and practically implement knowledge about sustainable development. In order to develop solutions to global challenges, we bring academic disciplines together to create new knowledge. Moreover, practical implementation of knowledge requires collaboration between academia and other actors in society. To this end, we create meeting places and bring together different types of expertise in order to promote sustainable development within research, education and cooperation.

  • Icelandic whistleblower Jóhannes Stefánsson is the 2021 winner of WIN WIN Award

    [22 Apr 2021] The 2021 winner of the WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award has been revealed. The prestigious award goes to the Icelandic whistleblower Jóhannes Stefánsson who, with his life at stake, led the revelation of a widespread corruption scandal connected to fishing quotas in Namibia. The prize of 1 million SEK is presented to the winner at the award ceremony in Gothenburg, Sweden in October.

  • Sustainable production focus in the premiere of the Researchers fika event series

    [26 Mar 2021] An afternoon in the middle of March the new GMV collaboration concept "Researchers fika" was carried out. Ulla Tang and Mélanie Despeisse from the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology respectively, gave speed talks on the theme "Measuring sustainability in production systems: Examples from health care and manufacturing".

  • Easier to find researchers with knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals

    [25 Mar 2021] This week, a new version of the membership database for the Research Network for Sustainable Development was launched, where one can search for research who contribute with knowledge to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals. The database also includes information about international research collaboration.
