Factivism - Get your facts straight!

News: Jun 17, 2021

This year’s theme for Act Sustainable 2021 is: Factivism – Get your facts straight!

Weather you stand on top of the barricades, are verbally fencing “that” aunt or uncle at the family get-together, or having a friendly discussion with loved ones, you´ll get nowhere without a shared common ground to start from.

Get your facts straight

Before we can have constructive discussions on what needs to be done, what we ought to do. We need to make sure we have an agreement on what actually is and what isn’t. This is off course easier said than done. But your first step starts here: Get your facts straight!

You already know the drill. The internet is dangerous, fake news, lies by the speed of a share, troll factories, conspiracy, and so forth. So, what do we do about it?

Obviously, we have to make facts great again!

Whatever your passion is, or what fight you choose to take, make sure your description of the world is rooted in sound knowledge. Make sure factfulness, reliable sources, and accuracy is a part of your strife, no matter what it is.

This year’s theme for Act Sustainable is as relevant and important as ever and carries a great academic tradition. Through knowledge and a better understanding of the world, we have the tools to shape and change it, to be something better. Agenda 2030 and the Global Goals are an attempt at making things better with a holistic approach never before seen on this scale. We all have to chip in with research, practice and action.

Get your facts straight, and be a Factivist!
