Multidisciplinary research network bringing competences together

A sustainable development will not be achieved solely by one discipline or even one university, and there is an urgent need for interdisciplinary collaboration. Around 650 researchers and PhD students from 40 different departments at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg are part of the research network for sustainable development administrated by GMV. Together the network’s members represent a wide range of disciplines.

Our mission from the heads of Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg is to promote sustainable development in academia and collaborate with stakeholders in society.

We work actively to develop collaboration between members in the research network for sustainable development, for example by arranging thematic discussions together with other actors around different SDGs to promote cooperation across disciplinary boundaries.

Welcome to join the research network for sustainable development

As a researcher or PhD student at Chalmers or the University of Gothenburg you are very welcome to affiliate the research network. As a member you will receive:

  • A personal, searchable page in the network datasbase www.gmvnatverk.se
  • Our newsletter every other week, presenting news and events on sustainable development
  • Invitations to thematic lunches and other meetings focusing on identifying opportuntites to collaborate

You are also welcome to suggest themes that you wish to discuss with other researchers in relation to Agenda 2030 and the Global goals.

Researchers Fika - short talks that provides solution-oriented perspectives on sustainable development.

We organize a series of network zoom meetings called Researchers Fika open for both present and new members of the Research Network for Sustainable Development at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg. As a member of the research network we welcome you to propose a speed talk for one of the meetings. At each network meeting two researchers from different disciplines, or a researcher and an external stakeholder, will each give a short talk that provides a solution-oriented perspective on sustainable development.

Supporting strategic outreach

Research plays an important role in the implementation of Agenda 2030. GMV has the ambition to disseminate and strengthen knowledge and support researchers who want to bridge the gap between research and decision-making. For example, GMV arrange courses and workshops in various contexts.
