Global Sustainable Futures for collaboration

Global Sustainable Futures (GSF) constitutes a joint platform between Chalmers and University of Gothenburg that facilitates the advancement of science-based knowledge towards achieving Agenda 2030 through collaboration with partners in low- and middle-income countries. GFS promotes research, training and utilization aimed at sustainable development through support, coordination and events for networking and sharing of knowledge and experiences.

At present, Global Sustainable Futures is carrying out an extensive mapping and networking exercise, with the aim to present an up-to-date picture of partnerships between Chalmers and University of Gothenburg and partners in low- and middle-income countries. GSF will continue to welcome interests in new partnerships.

On 25 November, GSF held the online-conference “Research collaboration in low- and middle- income countries - findings, lessons and ways forward for implementing Agenda 2030”. The event featured keynote talks by professor Ernest Aryeetey, Secretary General African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA), and Madelene Ostwald, affiliated researcher at GMV/GSF as well as presentations by researchers at University of Gothenburg and Chalmers who are engaged in global collaboration. On October 13, GSF hosted a webinar about governance in low-income countries, presented by Prof Ellen Lust, Department of Political Science of University of Gothenburg and Founding Director of the Programs on Governance and Local Development at Yale University. Read more.

Global Sustainable Futures is part of Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development (GMV). During spring 2020, the first activities such as a kick-off meeting and three webinars were arranged, focusing on different dimensions of collaboration. Professor Magdalena Eriksson is appointed to lead the platform, working with a small team to realise the plans and objectives of GSF. (Read the article here)
